ABOUT US

SKADI Foundation is a registered non-profit foundation composed of experienced volunteers dedicated to making motorized mountain adventures safe and enjoyable for everyone. SKADI Foundation’s Board ensures funds are invested prudently and revenues generated are disbursed through a variety of projects.

 

Mission Statement

Minimize motorized user risk in avalanche terrain by providing leadership, development and communication of mountain survival and safety education, warnings, products and services.

 

Objectives

The objectives of SKADI Foundation include:

 

  • raise avalanche awareness for persons using motorized vehicles in the mountains;

  • promote the advancement of education, training, leadership, communication, and support a platform for individuals to mitigate, prepare, respond and recover for/from the risks associated with using motorized vehicles in the backcountry during winter;

  • support the development of tools and equipment for new methods of hazard identification, route finding, terrain management, forecasting and communicating;

  • provide financial aid to persons who wish to advance education in backcountry motorized sport or outdoor activity including subsidizing the cost of equipment, training, coaching, instruction and travel costs that may stand in the way of achieving goals;

  • provide financial aid for motorized backcountry users and/or their families affected by avalanches to help with unforeseen cost, such as but not limited to medical attention/equipment, travel, physiotherapy, therapy, life after death;

  • work in partnership with existing avalanche organizations and recreation organizations operating in North America to facilitate the advancement of education via training, leadership, curriculum development, and communication to achieve a safer standard while operating in the backcountry; and

  • raise funds and accept donations for carrying-out the purposes of the society.
